Jon
I
just wanted to thank you for a GREAT show last night. I can't
remember when I enjoyed a performance more no matter who the group
was. You guys were absolutely outstanding. I don't have to tell
you how rare it is that a live performance equals or exceeds the
studio performance but, yours did.
I have tried to define your 'style' and I keep coming
back to my view that you are story tellers in the great tradition
of early blues and folk music. I'm not sure if you agree with that
observation but, to me it is truly a joy to listen to music that
isn't trying to impress with technical tricks, electronic wizardry
and lyrics that are meant only to shock with little if any
thought put into them. I hate to keep gushing to you but, I can't
stop listening to your album and I look forward to hearing more
down the road.
Have
A Great Day,

Jon,
I thoroughly enjoyed your set at the
Music Menu, and I've been listening and jamming along to "14
Songs..." ever since. Very strong material - my girlfriend Susan dug
the show, as well.
One thing that strikes me about The
Brakemen CD is that the songs are well developed and mature -
polished, but not slick. Maybe "burnished" is a
better way of saying it. Anyway, your
experience shows, and I dig it. All
the songs have grown on me, but the
ones that are on repeat play in my head are Caught In a Memory and
Gates of Graceland.
Glad to hear of the sellout at CD
Baby! I've checked out your website, and noticed you've added
posters (the retro ones are very cool) and MP3s lately.
Anyway, I've rambled on long enough.
Take care.
